Plans for Beijing Itinerary

As the capital of China, Beijing boasts many cultural and historical attractions. Most of the visitors don’t have plenty of time to visit them all. You might be thinking about hiring a tour guide but it might cost you a bit, and it might also get you into a scam. So here are the plans that we made for you to make your stay in Beijing worthwhile.

Day 1: Temple of Heaven – Lama Temple – Nanluoguxiang (Hutongs) – Houhai

The Temple of Heaven should be the first stop in your Day 1. The internal spots open at 8am and the ticket is about 10-15RMB. Covering an area of 2,730 square meters, the Temple of Heaven is 4 times larger than the Forbidden City. After visiting the Temple of Heaven, you can catch the subway down to the Lama Temple. Entrance fee of the Lama Temple is about 25RMB per person. With a history of more than 300 years, The Lama Temple is the biggest Tibetan Buddhism Temple in the city. You probably will see a lot of ceremonies there. Before you go on your trip, you can dine at the Gui Jie near the temple for lunch. The place gathers about 150 shops and restaurants and all kinds of famous and popular street food. The next stop will be Nanluoguxiang. Known as one of the oldest blocks in Beijing, Nanluoguxiang houses the most well preserved courtyard area. The famous Hutong and bar street also attracts many youngsters. They enjoy the combination of western and old-school elements in the bars and clubs. Later, you can rest and explore at the Houhai Lake. Having a dinner on a boat in Houhai Lake will be quite charming, accompanied with flute music. The lake was dug out in the Yuan Dynasty in 14th century. Gathering many bars, restaurants and shops, Houhai has now become an entertainment area in Xicheng District.

Day 2: Mutianya Great Wall

The visit at the Mutianya Great Wall might probably take half a day or a bit more. First, you need to take Subway Line 2 and Get off at Dongzhimen Station. Ask for the old coach station and take the 936. You will be arriving at the Mutianyu Great Wall after about 2 hours. The famous scenic spots such as “Arrow nock”, “Bulls horn ridge” and “Eagle flying belly up” are in the west part of the Mutianya Great Wall. That’s where the captivating part of the Great Wall lies in.

Day 3: Tiananmen Square – Forbidden City

The third day starts with the Tiananmen Square. The Tiananmen Square is known as the heartland of Beijing. Surrounded by the Monument to the People’s Heroes, the Great Hall of the People, the China National Museum and Chairman Mao Memorial Hall, it is the largest Urban Center-Square in the world. Across the street is the Forbidden City, a marvelous architectural masterpiece in ancient China and the biggest and most well-preserved wooden architectural complex in the world. You should probably bring some food because the price of the food inside the city is quite expensive. If you have time left, you can head north and visit the Jinshan Park or the Drum Tower

Day 4: Water cube – Birds Nest – Olympic Park

The Water Cube, also known as the National Aquatics Centre, is one of the iconic buildings in the Beijing Olympics. The place has hold competitions such as swimming, diving, synchronized swimming and water polo during the Olympics. Not far from the place there is the famous Bird Nest, namely the China National Stadium. The place has been holding theatrical performances and non-commercial events since the ending of the Beijing Olympics. You can enjoy the rest of your day at the Olympic Park and feel the vibe.

Day 5: Summer Palace – Wangfujing Street

As the biggest and most well-preserved Imperial Garden in China, the Summer Palace is really a beautiful place. Centered on the The Tower of Buddhist Incense in Longevity Hill, the Summer Palace possesses many exquisite halls, corridors and pavilions. The 72-meter long corridor at the foot of the hill connects the structures, river and hill. The well-conceived design is rare in the Art History of Garden in the world. After the trip in Summer Palace, you can pay a visit to the Wangfujing Street in the remaining day. With a total length of 1,800m, the Wangfujing Street is the most prosperous area in Beijing. It’s an ideal place to shop.

Mouth Of The Wolf: http://mouthofthewolf.bandcamp.com

26th this month, the Spider Hugs together with Mouth of the Wolf will present us a music feast in Jianghu Bar.

Formed in Beijing in 2012, the Spider Hugs consists of band members from Gibraltar, Britain, Australia and Germany, including Dylan Viñales (vocals), Pete Henderson (keyboard), Adrian Leung (bass) and Richard Wort (drums). With the influence of all genres of music, the Spider Hugs is a combination of Muddy Waters, Argentinian folk music and Big Lebowski. One of their most famous original songs, known as the “Ghosts”, was created based on Gibraltar rock. As indie musicians, they refuse to follow the traditional music industry practices, make music videos and get interviews, only focusing on making great music. The band has had many gigs in several well-known locations in Beijing, as well as music festival. They are planning to release their next live recording.

Mouth of the Wolf is new to the city. Combining minimalist stoner folk with socio-politics and palm muted riffs, they have an addiction to shouting and the odd funny dance. You can download their EP at http://mouthofthewolf.bandcamp.com.
